Mol Design Studio Creates the New Packaging Design for Opera Zero

Opera Zero is an artisan cosmetic brand with a skincare line made of four different products.

Our client chose to commission an artist to create four illustrations to identify each of the products. The design of the packaging had to honour and respect the illustrations while leaving them untouched and framing them.

We chose to realise the boxes on an anthracite base to highlight the colours of the illustrations. The challenge was to leave the illustrations untouched, without adding any edit and avoiding any kind of technical information related to cosmetic regulation invading their space, in order to print the whole illustration on three sides of the box and be able to recreate a continuity of the illustration once the boxes are standing next to each other and turned towards the complementing direction.

From a sustainability perspective the choice has been to not print an instruction pamphlet per product but to insert all of the necessary information on the inside of the box.
